Yeah,
Ok so I’ve been real slack over the last couple of weeks with this Blog Caper. And I can bring out all the excuses I like, Here goes I’ve been busy, I’ve been tired, I’m working too much….Blah Blah Blah
The real reason is that I completely forgot about the Thing!! Well sort of combined with weak excuse number 1.
Well the riding twice a week to work and home is going very well to the point of now looking forward to doing it! I read some ware that if you do something for more than 27 times it becomes a habit. Well I haven’t ridden to work 27 times yet but It’s enjoyable all the same my Mate who I ride with on the weekends pointed out to me that I’d been Riding now on and off for over 18 years!! I guess you could say it’s what I enjoy.
This weekend is a Long Weekend in Perth anyway for Labor Day so we’ve hired an off-road Camper Trailer (C/T) for 4 days and are heading off down to Busleton to do lots of nothing hopefully and let the kids wear themselves out it’s the first time we’ve been away this year! And we’re looking forward to it. My mate who I ride with on the weekends warned me about hiring a C/T because he said that once you’ve roughed it in a C/T you’ll never go back to the humble old tent ever it’s like comparing a backpackers Hostel to the Taj-Mahal! So once the house is built and finished off to the Gorgeous Wife’s Liking we may be looking at a C/T……
So watch this space for hopefully some great Photos of our Weekend away when we get back all relaxed and ready to plan our next long weekend or holiday away.

Getting Fit Is Hazardous to your Health!
Well let me Explain,
What a start to the year it’s been and were already staring down the barrel of February!
What's been happening you may ask? Well were do I start? The Riding/Fitness Campaign is still going strong albeit a little toned down from when I first started. I found that I was doing a little too much too soon. What with riding to and from Work (48 km) three times a week and riding my mountain bike on Sundays (30 km) Spinning (16 km) on my off days…….weights aaaand doing a workout with my Fitt-Ball (Swiss Ball) I was getting a little tired like falling asleep on the loung at 7.30pm! with the kids jumping all over me! So I have toned it down a little and I’m feeling a lot better for it.
The riding to and from work is fraught with many dangers as I have been finding out over the last couple of weeks. I’m sure I leave the office to get changed into my invisible Bike Shorts and Invisible Bike Top then get on my Invisible Bike! Because Cars and 4x4’s just don’t see you if your on a bike. Now I have a few lights in my bike and they all flash I have three Red flashing lights on the back and two white lights on the front and do you think Cars and 4x4’s take any notice of you, Jesus my bike is lit up like a frigging Christmas tree and the amount of close calls I’ve had with cars in the last 3 weeks is incredible.
Also I believe I can claim to be only one of a few people that can say they have been hit by a Boat, Yes a boat whilst riding my bike…..It happened on a Sunday ride on West Coast Drive (Highway) near Marmion Angling & Aquatic Club. Riding on the road is the preferred way to ride down there as there are quite a load of Power Walkers and Joggers and Dog Walkers And pram pushers and and and… you get the drift so first I see the 4x4 come up along side of me so I try to move over as far as possible without hitting the kerb then all of a sudden this shadow descends over me as if it were an eclipse and before I realised what was happening I felt this bump on the elbow which pushed my handlebars closer to the kerb so I straightened up as much as I could and then I was hit again only this time it was the boat hitting the handlebars of my Mountain Bike……. Luckily I managed to stay up right and proceeded to belt the boat hull a couple of times with my fist to no avail, I’m sure the driver was completely oblivious to what had just transpired. Like I said before I’m sure bike riders are invisible.
Foot Note: I own a BIG 4x4 and love it to bits, but as a bike rider to boot I try to look out for other bike riders on the road when I’m driving.
Ciao

Attack 2006 Head On.....
Well,
That was 2005 And Heres the Start of 2006…..I trust everyone had a relaxing Break?
My break over Christmas is always h hectic one sorry I should say my wife’s break over Christmas is a hectic one! I don’t do a great deal! What with wrapping the Kids Prezzies and organising everything for Christmas Day. This year was not too bad coz we went to my parent’s house for Christmas Lunch/Dinner so we didn’t have to do much on Christmas day.
Boxing Day on the other hand is a little more involved thanks to our youngest son having his birthday! He was 7 years old this year and so that meant a new bike. Which posed a bit of a logistical Challenge, I picked his New Bike up from the Bike shop on Christmas Eve whit every other Man and his Dog and then had to drive it to my parents place 20 minutes away. Then on Christmas Day night after spending the day at my parents house with the kids and wife we had to bring the kids home (By now its 9.30pm) get them sorted and into bed and then I got back in the Car and drive back to my Parents place to pick up the New Bike and bring it all the way back home!!! What a day I think I got to bed about 12.30am Boxing Day morning! And then there was Boxing Day it’s self.
We had everyone back at ours on Boxing Day for Tyler’s Birthday which was great just a relaxing day out the back. I think because everyone was so stuffed from Christmas day!
Well I’ve hit 2006 with a vengeance regarding my fitness regime since before Christmas I’ve been beach running, spinning (Cycling on the spot) and Mountain bike riding on the New Bike. I managed to loose a Kilo over the Christmas Break which pleased me. And the plan is to start as of tomorrow riding to work and back a couple of times a week which will be a bit of a challenge! I haven’t done that seriously in a couple of years! It’ll mean being on the Bike for about 3 hours a day on top of a 10 hour work day! Hmmmmm and the next decision will be which bike to ride? The Road Bike or the Mountain Bike with Slick Tyres on?? Decisions decisions!!

Back on my bike…Pt 2!
Well after I got motivated enough to get back on my bike (Road Bike) for the first time in ages it then dawned on me that were getting our youngest son his first “real” bike for his birthday which falls on Boxing Day of all days!
This then made me wonder that if the Kids wanted to go for a ride on their Bikes I would need to go with / follow them and to do that on a “Road Bike” complete with SPD pedals thin tires bla blah blah! One it would take me longer to get ready and there is a greater than average chance that If I sustained a puncture I would have to walk home!!
So, this Is were the story gets interesting. I walked into http://www.maverickcycles.com.au to get our Youngest a New Helmet for his new Bike once that was sortid out a then proceeded to take a look at the Mountain Bikes…
Now I’ve had a fair few bikes in my time from Mountain to Road, this will be the first time I have owned two bikes at the same time and to have the choice of witch one to ride will be quite novel
I’ll pick up the new bike’s mine and our youngest on Christmas eve! Merry Christmas to me…….

Back on my bike..

Well, I got back on my bike for the first time in far too long…… the reason being is that a Mate and I are going to be competing in an upside down Rogaine! The upside down bit means that it’s done during the night because it will be far too hot to do it during the day out in the Australian Bush as if their not hard enough to do when you can see were your Going!
The Rogaine Part of the event is a bit like orienteering but you get to choose the course you take to maximize the amount of points you score and obviously the Harder the Course you plot the more points you will score. This Event is a 12 hour event that’s why I’m back in training so that we can hopefully stay out on the course for the whole 12 hours or so! The next phase of my grueling training regime will be to start beach running again with my Rogaining Partner next Thursday! Yeah yeah I know right before Christmas too! Well if I don’t stat now I will never start and then it will be too late to do anything! This training all compliments my beach volleyball I play on Monday nights after Work! No rest for the wicked!
Ooroo for now

Our Trip To England
Well here is my very first ever Blog Post...... and it has a link to some of our Photos that I took when we went on holiday to England in November! November you might say… what were you thinking? Well it all revolved around Frequent Flyer (Air Miles) and the fact that the wife (Lia) is Studying at College and trying to fit it in with her holidays…and …..and…
As Lia so studiously pointed out too me we could have held off on the trip and gone next year 06 but I’m like a bull in a china shop when I get an idea into my head I do it and then think about the repercussions afterwards! Oh well I hope you like the Pics and I’ll add more later when I get a chance.
